Windows 1.x

Ah, it’s as they say, there’s nothing like the original. Even in the modern age with all the internet capable devices and the different versions of windows, Windows 1.x series has its own little charm to it. I can’t say that I know of anyone that still uses this series of windows but with a bit of digging I found the images of the original boot screen, original DOS command prompt (because that’s how you had to navigate computers in those days, and I was lucky to find a photo of the original MS file explorer (called MS-DOS Executive.) Also for all the advancements that we’ve made in the realm of technology, we can’t capture the nostalgia of the Windows 1.x series.


Windows 1.01

Windows 1.01 was released on November 20th 1985. This operating system ran on the MS-DOS 5.0 platform. It was a 16 bit Operating System needing less than 1 MB of ram and storage space. It had a simple graphical User interface. The next operating system is Windows 1.03.


Windows 1.03

This updated OS was released one year after the Release of Windows 1.01. This OS required 2.2 MB of storage space and had minor fixes. Otherwise, this is the same OS. The next OS is Windows 2.03.
